Something Borrowed
Stewardship

In Church vocabulary, stewardship is usually code for a fund drive. But it actually cheapens the principle of Christian stewardship to limit its scope to just money. As a committed disciple of Jesus Christ, you are in charge of mountains of blessings that are yours to use, share, and invest - but never to own.

Money is certainly one of them. But so is your time and your entire package of talents and abilities. Even the words you say and the health you enjoy are gifts from the hand of God that each require careful attention, wise handling and (at times) measured restraint.

And as you prove your faithfulness in managing mall portions of God's resources, don't be surprised to see Him commit even more into your care, knowing that He can trust you to manage His property and be a funnel for passing the blessing along to others - the same way He's passed it along to you.

Money cannot go to your head when you have God's interests at heart.

Matthew 6:19-24 - Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. 23But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness! No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
