Prayers and Preaching
Colossians 4:12, Colossians 1:27-28
hr1

Last week, we talked about how progressing towards spiritual maturity is a process that will never end in this life. There are two things I want to focus your attention on today that will help you in that effort.

The first is found in Colossians 4:12, Epaphras, who is one of you, a bondservant of Christ, greets you, always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.

If you are going to be complete or mature in Christ, you need the prayers of others. In the long haul, I am convinced none of us make it across the finish line without the prayers of other Christians.

The second is found in Colossians 1:27-28, Christ in you, the hope of glory. Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.

In addition to the prayers of others, you need to be under good preaching and teaching to become complete in Christ. Preaching promotes change while teaching promotes growth, and you need both of them. Looking back at my Christian life, I can still remember messages that literally shook my world and changed me. I remember one in particular when I had been saved less than a month.

USome new Christian friends took me to hear an evangelist preach. I was blessed so I decided to go back the next night. That night I heard a message that changed my life. It was a message on the parable of the sower, and that night I fell in love with the Word of God. It absolutely shaped me.

To become mature in your faith, make sure you are under solid biblical preaching and teaching, and develop the prayer habit as well as soliciting the prayers of others.

LAST SUNDAY
This last week we continued our series entitled, Building A Life of Stewardship. We looked at Facing Mountains and Giants, how we need to be like David when he fought Goliath. Before David could defeat the giant, he had to overcome hindrances, be committed to God’s cause, use what he had, and he had to trust God for what he didn’t have. That message should be on the website by the end of today for those who missed it. Next Sunday we will be delving into Love And Faith, starting our studies on Sunday in Galatians 5 and Ephesians 3. We hope that you come and learn how we should be good stewards of our lives.

MEN & LADIES' BIBLE STUDIES
For the months of January, February and March, we will not be having our Sunday Night Bible Studies. In lieu of this service we are encouraging our Men and Women to join the Bible Studies that will be going on throughout the week.
The ladies have been meeting on Sunday nights at 6 PM at various homes. The ladies are going through a book entitled, Becoming More Than Just A Good Bible Study Girl by Lysa Terkeurst.
Likewise, the men are having their study on Saturdays at 9:30 AM. The men are going through Spiritual Leadership by J. Oswald Sanders.
If you missed signing up for this or are interested in joining, it’s not too late to join. Please see Pamela Bish for the ladies, and Pastor Robinson for the men. We pray and hope to see you involved in these studies. It is a great source of fellowship and study.

PLEASE NOTE - We will be forgoing our monthly meals for January, February, and March

February 27 - We will be partaking of the Lord's Supper following the Morning Worship Service

March 5 - Washington City Mission - for more information, please contact Rick Paterni or Gloria Kelly. There will also be a sign up sheet in the foyer by next Sunday.
