But What About You?
Luke 9

Jesus got alone with His disciples after a day full of ministering and serving. After Jesus spoke to His Father in prayer, He began to question His followers and prod their hearts, "Who do the multitudes say that I am?" If you were to poll a similar crowd today you would get similar answers. Just like today, Jesus, was known more often by things that He did:

  • A healer of the sick and crippled
  • A wise teacher and theologian
  • A "nice person"
  • A good example
  • A close friend
  • A good luck charm
  • A martyr
  • A prophet foretold or a former prophet who'd come alive again
  • John the Baptist (who was actually Jesus' cousin)

"But who do you say that I am?" Jesus asked.

Peter, without hesitancy, answered Him, "The Christ of God."

Above all, despite all, Peter saw Jesus as the promised Messiah and the Son of the Most High God. He was sure of Jesus' identity, as well as Jesus' place in his own life. What about you? Who do you say that Jesus is? Is He merely one of those things in the list above, or a combination of several? Or is He the total, end-all, be-all in your life? Is He the risen Savior who has set you free from sin? Is He The King of your heart, and the reigning Ruler of your life? Romans 10:9-10 says, That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Who do confess that He is?

Upcoming Series

Do you have it? Would you like to check it for good? God is ready and willing to claim it, we just have to be willing to let it go. And not on a round-trip flight, but a one-way destination. Learn how you can pack up the pain and hurt, find release from addiction and torment, and break free from the battles that keep you and your Baggage grounded.

Last Sunday:

We finished our series The Ghost. We looked into Filled With The Holy Spirit. Filled with the Spirit, what does this mean? To some it is speaking in tongues, but what does the Bible say? Is the gift of speaking in tongues for believers for today? Is it the only evidence for a spirit-filled life? If not, how do you become filled?
Sunday's message is available for streaming or for download on our website, just under the calendar, or by visiting us on iTunes.
