Be My Witnesses

Acts 1

We have been given power by the Holy Spirit to be Jesus' witnesses throughout the world (Acts 1:8). We are called to be witnesses for Jesus , not lawyers. So many times I find myself making arguments for the existence of God or the veracity of scripture as if Jesus needs clever arguments to make His point. Instead, we take the witness stand and simply tell our story. There is power in our story when we tell it. This is the reason why our arguments and debates are sometimes fruitless while our simple story of life-change is so effective. In John 9 the man born blind gives this testimony, "One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!" His testimony is irrefutable, and so is yours. No one can argue that your life has changed dramatically. The proof is there for all to see.

In 1980 I was radically saved as a young boy. While I hadn't lived a hard life or been exposed to too much of the world at that point, I was completely aware of my sin and my need for Jesus. I asked Jesus into my heart at a revival service on a Thursday night in a small church in Kentucky. My sister had asked me if I'd like to go up front to the altar to pray with her. I followed her to the front of the church and detoured toward the preacher. I told him that I needed Jesus. I remember clearly an older man taking me through the ABC's of salvation. Admit. Believe. Commit. I trusted Jesus for my salvation that day.

Jesus has given us power to be witnesses to the world of His love and His forgiveness. Let's spend less time arguing and more time witnessing.

I Quit
Fed up with the status quo? The way things are isn't the way things have to be. Come see what happens when we're ready to say, "I quit." Join us as we begin the New Year by quitting some things like: I Quit Making Excuses, I Quit Complaining, I Quit Living in Fear, and I Quit Comparing.

Yesterday:
We started this new series, I Quit. The first message is I Quit Making Excuses. We saw how we need to quit making excuses by simply doing what we know what God wants us to. Then we are to trust God to do the things that are beyond our ability. Sunday's message is available on our website, just under the calendar, or you can listen by visiting us on iTunes. You can also listen to previous messages.

Next Week:
Pastor will continue this series, I Quit. The next message is I Quit Complaining. We hope to see you here!
