Just Do It!

Acts 9

Can you even imagine? A murderer! A man who was thoughtlessly known to slay, men or women who professed the name of Jesus, and Ananias was commanded to go and seek him out. Ironically enough, this murderer named Saul would be expecting him. The initial amount of fear encasing Ananias's body must have been overwhelming. He even went as far as reminding the Lord that he had "heard from many about this man, how much harm he has done to Your saints" (Acts 9:13b) as a plea not to go. In the end, God told Ananias to go, and Ananias went.

Upon his arrival at Saul's house, Ananias found a weak blind man; certainly not what he was expecting. Ananias did exactly as the Lord commanded him to do by placing his hands on Saul, and healing him as a result. Not only were the scales removed from Saul's eyes, but he was saved! A holy fire was ignited within his soul, and this single life made an amazing 180 degree turn no one could have seen coming.

Has God ever asked you to do something that you thought was absolutely insane? Maybe it was something that made you feel like you were going to look stupid in the process or something that took you way out of your comfort zone. The question is, though, did you do it? The Lord speaks to us with purpose. Ultimately, He does not need our help, but what a privilege to be a part of His perfect plan. Ananias had no clue he would play a key role in a cold blooded killer giving his life to Jesus, which also resulted in countless other lives being saved. What a blessing. What is God asking you to do right now? Just do it!

Upcoming Events

February 5 - Carry In Dinner following AM Service. No PM Service.

February 7 - G.R.O.W. Meeting at 7 PM
Some have been wondering what G.R.O.W. is. It is FBC's new outreach program that everyone in the church can be active in. It stands for God Rewards Our Work. This first meeting is going to be an introduction of what it is as well as some training involved. After the training is over, all that we ask for is one and a half hours one night a month. Who can't give God one and a half hours a month? You may not want to go to people's homes, and that is fine. We will have opportunities for you to hand write letters, send emails, or make phone calls. This is a great opportunity for you to be the Ambassadors of Christ that we are to be.

February 10 - Church-wide Bowling Night Out at 7 PM at Pike Bowling in Canonsburg.

March 3 - Washington City Mission Outreach

Yesterday:
We started our new series by looking into who we are in Christ. We started with Ambassadors. As children of God we are chosen by God, not elected by people. We are sent on the special mission of sharing the message of reconciliation to a lost and dying world. Sunday's message is available on our website, just under the calendar, or you can listen by visiting us on iTunes. You can also listen to previous messages.

Next Week:
