Sons & Daughters
Galatians 4
Galatians 4:6-7 says, And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, Abba, Father! Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ
. At the Olympics, you'll notice lots of parents in the stands cheering their children on toward victory. The parents of those athletes are fully engaged physically and emotionally in the event. Many times it's more entertaining to watch the parents than the athletes. Those athletes have no greater fans than their parents.
Galatians 8:14-17 says, For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, Abba, Father. The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirsheirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
As our loving Father, God wants us to experience the joy of victory in our life. We are sons and daughters of God. Since we are sons and daughters, He desires for us to fully understand and embrace our position as His children. We must understand that He provides, He protects, and He knows what's best for our life. He wants us to walk in freedom, no longer bound by worry and fear. And He's given us His Spirit, living inside us, so that at any time we can call on our "daddy".
We do not have a Father who is nervous about our performance or concerned about the outcome of our life. Our Father is not powerless. Not only is He watching, cheering us on, He has entered the game, through His Son Jesus Christ. And oh what a game-changer!
We are more than conquerors through Him who loves us.
