Colossians 1
Colossians 1:21 - And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind tby wicked works, yet now He has reconciled
Before Christ set us free from sin and death, we were alienated and apart from Him - on the other side of the chasm. This hopelessness and estrangement, whether realized or not, resides in the deepest part of every person who hasn't yet come to know Christ. It is why nothing within this world satisfies those who are 'searching.' People look for meaning to life... and there is none but in Christ and what He did for us.
Yet what happens when we ask Him into our hearts? Jesus comes in and renews us... He reconciles us to God! He alone can bring us into fellowship with our Creator. At that moment of salvation, it is this realization that sends our hearts soaring and puts a smile on our faces. For the very first time we realize our worth!
What happens, oftentimes, though... sometimes daily... is we forget that mending. We tend to focus on our shortcomings and mistakes. We dwell on our sordid past as well as our daily pitfalls.
Becoming a Christian doesn't mean we'll never mess up again. A changed mindset, a welcome reminder, is what we need to embrace. Following verse 21 is verse 22, which says this: In the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight.
Blameless means without fault! When Jesus looks at us, His children, He sees brilliance. He sees holiness. He sees blamelessness. Living in the mindset and the shadow of our old, dead flesh renders us useless for His work; but choosing to see ourselves as Christ does allows us to reach our fullest potential in Him.
