Rooted And Established

Ephesians 3

If we seek to understand God merely by intellect we find ourselves limited and sorely disappointed by our lack of capacity. Much like water droplets in hot oil is our knowledge compared to the vastness and holiness of our God. Knowledge is impressive and people take notice, but knowledge will not sufficiently explain the mystery of an Almighty God to our satisfaction. Job 11:7-9 says, Can you search out the deep things of God? Can you find out the limits of the Almighty? They are higher than heaven - what can you do? Deeper than Sheol - what can you know? Their measure is longer than the earth and broader than the sea.

In Christ, we find satisfaction to our searching. Jesus is the image of the invisible God. Jesus allows us to see what God is like. In the midst of our biggest questions we see Jesus, Creator of the Universe, born as a baby in a manger, living a perfect, sinless life, dying to pay for our sin, so that we might understand fully that God loves us and has a purpose for our lives. In Jesus we can understand fully that God is love.

Let it not be said of us that we were rooted and established in our intellect but, rather, let us be rooted and established in the love of Christ. The love of Christ is action. Let us be rooted in the kind of love that takes action. Ephesians 3:17-19 says, That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height - to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Special Opportunity

We have been approached by an individual who wants to help our church to be proactive in being prepared for the future. Recently there was a chance to purchase the house behind the church, but we were not in any position to purchase it. They have since taken it off the market, but will most likely be putting it back on the market in a year or so. This anonymous person has offered to match up to $5000 each month (from May through December) that would be given to the parsonage fund over and above your regular offerings. This is a great opportunity to get prepared to purchase some needed property for parking since our church is landlocked. Please consider donating some money towards this fund so we can be better prepared for this possible opportunity. Last month we raised $5,300! Praise the Lord!!

Current Series:

Why?
The call we never expect... the diagnosis that knocks us off our feet... the regrets that keep us up at night. How could God let it happen? Why didn't He answer that prayer? What does it mean when He feels distant? He welcomes our questions.

Yesterday:
We continued our series with the message of Why Didn't God Answer My Prayer? We do know that God always answers our prayers; He just doesn’t always answer it the way that we want Him to answer it. We looked at 4 biblical reasons why God may not answer our prayers the way we want him to. We also looked at what prayer really is. Then we finished with how we should pray. What a great challenge from His Word!
Sunday's message is available on our website, just under the calendar, or you can listen by visiting us on iTunes. You can also listen to previous messages.

Next Week:
Lord willing we will continue our series with Why Do Bad Things Happen To Good People? We hope to see you here!
