Crucified Life

Galatians 2

Galatians 2:20 says, I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Pop psychology says that I must recreate or reinvent myself. It says that inside me, somewhere, is the ability to help myself overcome all my problems and become a better version of me. There's a pretty large portion of your local bookstore dedicated to that notion.

Thankfully, we are not a renovation project. Christ died so that we might be reborn. The beauty of the whole thing is that when we are made into this new creation, we don't get a renovated life, we get Jesus, the Holy God, living inside each one of us.

So what does it mean to live by faith in the Son of God? It means that if we want our marriage to be better, we turn to Jesus. If we want our kids to turn out right, we turn to Jesus. If we want our job situation to improve, we turn to Jesus. If we have a health problem, we turn to Jesus. If we have money problems, we turn to Jesus. If we don't know what to do, we turn to Jesus. If we have more questions than answers, we turn to Jesus. It means that the everyday life we live in this body, we live by putting our faith in the Son of God (not in self-improvement), who loved us and gave Himself for us. Every problem finds its solution in the power of Christ who lives in us.

Matthew 6:33 says, But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well. I have access to a complete, full life because the God of the universe died for me and now lives in me. Is it possible that we fail to understand the importance of Jesus?

Special Opportunity

We have been approached by an individual who wants to help our church to be proactive in being prepared for the future. Recently there was a chance to purchase the house behind the church, but we were not in any position to purchase it. They have since taken it off the market, but will most likely be putting it back on the market in a year or so. This anonymous person has offered to match up to $5000 each month (from May through December) that would be given to the parsonage fund over and above your regular offerings. This is a great opportunity to get prepared to purchase some needed property for parking since our church is landlocked. Please consider donating some money towards this fund so we can be better prepared for this possible opportunity.

Purity. Honor. Loyalty. Integrity. Gratitude. Are they gone? Did we leave true character behind? Join us as we learn what we can do to restore these Forgotten Virtues.

Yesterday, we finished our series of Once Upon A Marriage with Unfailing Love. What a disturbing yet beautiful marriage portrayed here in Hosea. It is a picture of God unfailingly loving Israel, as well as God unfailingly loving Christians today.
Sunday's message is available on our website, just under the calendar, or you can listen by visiting us on iTunes. You can also listen to previous messages.

Next Week:
We begin our new seriesForgotten Values as we honor mothers with the subject of Purity. We hope to see you here!
